Christine specialises in creating bespoke structures highly targeted to the client’s commercial needs, combining expertise across derivatives, repo, stock lending, debt trading and structured finance.
Christine regularly advises on:
- currency sleeve hedging for closed-ended funds
- trading documentation including cleared and OTC derivatives, prime brokerage, repo and stock lending
- emerging market sovereign lending using total return swaps and structured repo
- fund finance solutions using total return swaps and funded participations as mechanisms for leverage or syndication
- hedging solutions across all asset classes, from interest rates to FX, credit, equities, inflation and commodities
- all regulatory requirements related to OTC derivatives including EMIR and SFTR
- credit default swaps and opportunistic credit strategies
- total return swaps on equities, loans and bonds
Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Christne was a Senior Counsel on the Derivatives & Trading team at Macfarlanes. Christine also spent over a decade on the Derivatives and Structured Finance team at Allen & Overy.
Christine has worked in London, Paris and Hong Kong and has undertaken client secondments at RBS and Credit Suisse.
Christine has advised on a wide range of transactions for credit funds, emerging markets funds and hedge funds. Christine’s experience includes:
- advising a leading opportunistic fund on a repo and back-to-back sub-participation secured over emerging market sovereign bonds to provide financing to the central bank of the same sovereign
- advising an opportunistic fund on the purchase of a £145m inflation-linked loan and related inflation swap in respect of a distressed utility company undergoing a restructuring
- advising an emerging markets asset manager on a $150m repo facility to provide funding to an emerging markets sovereign wealth fund and related back-to-back hedging arrangements
- advising a credit fund on single-asset total return swaps as part of a back leverage solution offered by various investment banks, including advice on the applicability of leverage caps, indebtedness restrictions in subscription facilities, regulatory advice and commercial negotiation advice
- advising a credit fund on the sale of a portfolio of non-performing loans and related corporate vehicles structured via a series of sub-participations
- advising an emerging markets asset manager on a $112m financing structure using options and forwards to launch a new commodity-backed currency for an emerging market sovereign
