He represents clients in investigations and merger control proceedings before the Swiss Competition Commission (COMCO), as well as before the Federal Administrative Court and the Federal Supreme Court. He also represents clients in private competition law litigation before the civil courts. His practice further includes preparing expert opinions for authorities and companies, designing compliance programs, and providing dawn raid and interview training.
Furthermore, he spent many years at the Secretariat of the Competition Commission, most recently as Deputy Vice Director and Deputy Head of Legal, and served as the Swiss authorities' coordinator in the International Competition Network (ICN). He then moved into private practice, joining a boutique law firm as counsel and later becoming its managing partner. Having worked on both sides, he brings a rare understanding of the perspectives of the authority and of the companies it investigates.
In addition, Markus regularly advises on commercial administrative law and public procurement. He lectures in the Master's program in Competition Law at UniDistance Suisse / FernUni Schweiz in Brig.
