Daily Report: Atlanta Lawyers Eye Trials of COVID-19 Drug After 'Mad Scramble' for IP DealMay 07, 2020 Eversheds Sutherland Partner Peter Quittmeyer is quoted in this article by Law.com's Daily Report discussing his licensing work for client DRIVE (Drug Innovation Ventures at Emory). Peter represented DRIVE in a licensing agreement with Ridgeback Biotherapeutics LP to rapidly advance DRIVE's EIDD-2801, a promising oral COVID-19 treatment, into human testing. He told the Daily Report that he is used to clients moving very fast, but "there was definitely an urgency to this." He estimated that the parties had 90% of their issues agreed upon when negotiations started. "Everyone knew you were talking about, potentially, lives" at stake, he said. He added that Emory’s technology transfer team, which had to work on a host of federal and university requirements, "really turned it around in miraculous time."
